Apple Varieties

Paula Red: Our first apple of the season!  We start picking these mid-August and typically have them until mid-September.  They are a juicy, sweet-tart, soft apple and can be used for eating fresh or baking.  Harvest August 15th.

McIntosh: Extra juicy, slightly tart apples with a white flesh.  You can eat these apples fresh but they are especially great in applesauce.  They break down when cooked, so they need a thickener when used for pies.  Harvest September 1st.

Jonathan: This is a sweet-spicy apple that is good eating fresh. The flavor is especially good when combined with other apple varieties for cooking purposes.  Harvest September 15th.

Empire: A sweet-tart apple with a nice crunch.  This is a very popular apple because it is not only great eating fresh, but is also good for baking.  The texture remains firm and stores well.  Harvest September 15th.

Honeycrisp:  A very popular apple for its sweet taste and crisp, juicy bite.  This apple is best eaten fresh or in salads.  It is not available for pick-your-own, but you can find them in our store already picked.  Harvest September 17th.

Golden Delicious: These apples are sweet, juicy, and crispy.  They are great for eating fresh and in salads.  They are also good for baking and require less added sugar due to their natural sweetness.  Harvest September 24th.

Red Delicious: This is a sweet, juicy, crispy apple that is best fresh.  Harvest October 1st.

Mutzu (Crispin):  This large apple is sweet, juicy, and crispy!  They may be enjoyed fresh or used for baking or sauce.  Harvest October 1st.

Ida Red:  This is our last apple of the season.  It is a sweet-tart, juicy, firm apple that has a pink flesh.  They are large apples and are best for baking, sauce, and pies.  Harvest October 7th.
